Azerbaijan held conference on “the fight against corruption in Azerbaijan: achievements and perspectives”

Today, a conference on "the fight against corruption in Azerbaijan: achievements and perspectives" was held in Training Centre of Miinstry of taxes in Shamaki Region.

The representatives of International Anticorruption Academy, Presidential Administration, Milli Majlis, General Prosecutor’s Office, MIinsty of Taxes and non-governmental organizations attended the conference.

Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov informed about fight against corruption and noted that, measures were taken in this sphere.

He also informed about usage of e-services in providing of transparency in tax system.

Fuad Alesgerov, chief of department for work with law enforcement bodies under the Presidential Administration, noted that, sufficient base was established in the sphere of fight against corruption in Azerbaijan and ethic behaviour codes of servicemen were adopted.

Head of Delegation of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, Martin Kreutner stressed the importance of the conference held in Azerbaijan and spoke about the international anti-corruption movement. He added that preventive measures play an important role in preventing corruption and stressed the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of NGOs and the public in the fight against corruption.

Head of Anti-Corruption Department, Prosecutor General’s Office Kamran Aliyev, deputy education minister Gulu Novruzov, chairman of the Council of State Support to NGOs and MP Azay Guliyev, coordinator of Cooperation Network of NGOs and chief of Taxes Ministry’s Education Centre Aysu Mammadova delivered speeches at the event.

At the end of the conference, the Ministry of Taxes and the International Anti-Corruption Academy signed a memorandum on cooperation in the fight against corruption.
