Submitting the so-called "Armenian genocide" for discussion by the French Senate will not positively affect the intergovernmental relations, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov said.

MPs from the French President's "Union for Popular Movement" (UMP) party which has the parliamentary majority, proposed a bill which aims at criminalizing denial of the so-called "Armenian genocide" to the legislative committee of the National Assembly in early December.

"Including this issue on the French Parliament's agenda is the politicization of the event associated with the history. This issue should be studied and discussed by historians," Hasanov told journalists.

Hasanov noted that this process will have no positive impact on relations between France and Turkey.

"At the same time, Azerbaijan is in a state of war with Armenia. Armenian leadership is responsible for such tragic event as Khojaly and they raise such fictitious issues. These events will not positively influence relations between the states," Hasanov underscored.
