France summoned the U.S. ambassador to the French Foreign Ministry in Paris after WikiLeaks claimed the National Security Agency spied on three French presidents, according to reports.
Ambassador Jane Hartley is expected to appear at the ministry later Wednesday, the Associated Press said. Agence France-Presse also reported the development. French President Francois Hollande convened emergency meetings with security officials and lawmakers to discuss the documents.
On Tuesday, the investigative journalism organization WikiLeaks published documents alleging that the U.S. wiretapped the last three presidents of France, including Hollande, as recently as 2012.
