Azerbaijan proved that fall in world prices of oil will not affect the implementation of its economic policy.
This was stated by Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov at the Azerbaijan Investment Forum, taking place in Baku today.
According to him, falling of oil prices has created some pessimism among investors. “Today, the crisis in some oil-producing countries showed that it is necessary to reduce dependence on oil, and Azerbaijan should take steps accordingly.”
The Minister said that the ICT sector in Azerbaijan is highly appreciated. “In terms of the development of the Internet, Azerbaijan is the leader among the CIS countries.
According to him, in 2012, Azerbaijan exported IT products worth $ 41 million.
“The Azerbaijani market is small, which creates certain difficulties in attracting foreign investors in the country and exporting products to foreign markets. Ministry of Communications and High Technologies is working on it. A free trade must be established and a model should be developed in this regard. It will significantly expand our market and the markets of neighboring countries,” said Ali Abbasov.
