An Azerbaijani delegation consisting of 40 representatives of nearly 20 national companies, including state and non-governmental organizations and startup groups, was on a visit in Budapest, Hungary, to participate in the International Telecommunications Exhibition and Conference- ITU Telecom World 2015. The event was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, communication ministers from a number of countries across the world, as well as heads and senior representatives of leading ICT companies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and startups.
Azerbaijan was represented at the exhibition by its National ICT Pavilion. During a“VIP Tour”, which was organized after the opening ceremony of the International Telecommunications Exhibition and Conference – ITU Telecom World 2015, Hungarian Prime Minister and the other VIP’s first visited Azerbaijan’s National ICT Pavilion. Then,they visited the pavilions of other countries.
Azerbaijan’s best startups took part in the competitions, which were held within the framework of ITU Telecom World 2015. Minister Ali Abbasov spoke as a panelist at the “Dialogue between Government and Small-Medium Entrepreneurship” session and the Meeting of Ministers, which was organized on the same day as the session and was attended by 15 ministers. He provided the gatherings with detailed information about the international projects, which are being implemented on Azerbaijan’s initiative.
After that, at the request of the organizers of ITU Telecom World 2015,Minister Ali Abbasov gave an interview to Blumberg Channel, which was covering the event,on behalf the Azerbaijani delegation. As part of the visit, Minister Ali Abbasov held bilateral meetings with Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Director General of the World Bank’s ICT Department, Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization, Communication Ministers of Hungary, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Serbia,Vice-Presidents of Companies Intel and Huawei, and Hungarian businessmeninterested in investing in Azerbaijan's ICT sector.
