Taekwondo, from 9:00
Epic Taekwondo battles can be expected at Crystal Hall 3 in the men's -68kg. The star-studded cast includes London 2012 Olympic champions Servet Tazegul of Turkey, Spain's Joel Gonzalez Bonilla, London 2012 bronze medallist Alexey Denisenko of Russia and world champion Jaouad Achab of Belgium. Tazegul and Denisenko could meet in the final, as they did at the recent world championships.
2. Gun girl
There will be an intriguing battle for gold in the women's 10m air pistol, with two vastly experienced shooters among the medal contenders. Forty-two-year-old Bulgarian Maria Grozdeva is a six-time Olympian and five-time Olympic medallist, with two gold and three bronze. She will come up against Ukraine's Olena Kostevych, who won gold the 10m at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games before collecting bronze in both the 10m and 25m at London 2012.
3. Perfect rhythm
Rhythmic Gymnastics, 10:00
The first Rhythmic Gymnastics medals of Baku 2015 will be handed out on Wednesday in the women’s group all-around final. The apparatus at Baku 2015 will be different to those used at last year’s major championships, which should make for an unpredictable, exciting contest. European and Olympic champions Russia are the team to beat, but Belarus and world champions Bulgaria will fancy their chances of usurping the favourites.
4. Freestyle guru
Wrestling, from 10:00
There will be no bigger roar heard at Baku 2015 on Wednesday than the one which greets Azerbaijan's Togrul Asgarov when he steps onto the mat at Heydar Aliyev Arena. The London 2012 Olympic Games gold medallist, still just 22 years old, is one of Azerbaijan's best-known wrestlers. Nothing less than victory in the 65kg freestyle will satiate an adoring, and expectant, home crowd.
5. Cupid's arrow
Husband and wife archers Taras and Olqa Senyuk will shoot side-by-side for their adopted country in the mixed team just a year after becoming Azerbaijani citizens. The couple, originally from Ukraine and Moldova, respectively, will face stiff competition in Archery's first medal event from an Italian team including London 2012 mixed team gold medallist Mauro Nespoli and three-time world champion Natalia Valeeva.
