Liverpool’s assistant boss Colin Pascoe has revealed that under-fire striker Mario Balotelli has been staying behind for extra training in a bid to end his scoring drought.
The Italian, who joined the Reds from AC Milan for £16million this summer, is yet to register a league goal in seven appearances despite a host of guilt-edged chances.
Fans have slowly begun to get on the 24-year-old’s back for a perceived lack of effort, but Reds no.2 Pascoe insists that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Capital One Cup fourth round against Swansea, Pascoe said: ‘Everything will be alright with Mario because you know his hunger is there and he wants to win.
"After every training session he wants to do shooting, passing – he wants to do everything, to work on his game. We as coaches will help him that way".
