The 5th summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States in Astana has announced the appointment of the First secretary of Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO Gunay Afandiyeva as President of the Turkic Culture & Heritage Foundation. The document on her approval was signed by the heads of delegations.
The possible appointment of Afandiyeva was discussed on September 10 during the meeting of Foreign Affairs of Turkic-Speaking States Cooperation Council. Addressing the meeting, Afandiyeva said that the Turkic Culture & Heritage Foundation, designed to explore, protect and promote Turkic states' culture and traditions, will be an important event for the whole Turkic community. She also said the Foundation will use the experience of other Turkic-speaking and international organizations and cooperate with them.
