The “Smart Start” internship program implemented by Bakcell, the First Mobile Operator and the Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, has been completed.
Within the frames of the “Smart Start” internship program, designed by Bakcell for students and graduates aged between 18-25, 32 young persons had an opportunity to participate in the internship at Bakcell, to gain practical experience and develop work-readiness skills at the company’s following departments: Human Resources, Information Technologies, Legal, Technology, Accounting, Marketing, Customer Services, Procurement and Logistics, Regulatory and Government Affairs, Corporate Sales, Business Technologies and Retail Sales and Distribution.
During the two-month internship program, the participants got acquainted with the state-of-the-art business environment at Bakcell – one of the largest investors in the country’s non-oil sector. At the initial stage of the internship program, the interns have attended trainings on business ethics, career development planning, health, safety and environmental protection, effective time management, effective communication, self-fulfillment as well as other trainings, which will be useful for their future professional careers.
“Over the last two years, we have received around 3000 applications for participation in the internship program and we did our best to provide the candidates with a maximum opportunity for participation. This year we had 32 interns, while last year we had 22 participants. We are especially proud of the fact that the young persons have chosen Bakcell for developing their professional skills and gaining work experience. Being the people’s mobile operator, Bakcell will continue to support the youth of the country”, says Bakcell CEO Mr. Richard Shearer.

The duration of the internship is 2 months, with 5 full working days a week. Bakcell provides the interns with a relevant stipend to cover their daily meal and travel expenses during this period. Upon completion of the internship program, all the participants are evaluated and granted with certificates proving their participation in the project.
It should be noted that all graduates of Smart Start program are considered as potential candidates for job openings at Bakcell. 5 young persons who successfully graduated from the program last year, are already employed by the Bakcell company. Some of this year’s graduates of the program are also expected to be employed.
