On 30 June 2015, an event was held at the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT) on the occasion of the completion of the first European Games. The event was attended by heads of associations and enterprises of the ministry, Chief Operating Officer of Baku 2015 European Games Operation Committee (BEGOC) Simon Clegg and other senior officials of the committee.
Speaking at the event with opening address, Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov noted the special importance of telecommunications, radio, television, internet, radio frequencies and other communications services in the successful holding of the first European Games. The Minister said the above mentioned communication services were provided at high level during the games.
Noting the achievements of our athletes during the first European Games, the Minister said along with the International Sports Broadcasting Company, Baku Telephone Communication Production Association (BTCPA), Azercosmos OJSC and Data Processing Center (DPC) have played a special role in the organization of continuous and high quality broadcasting of grand opening and closing ceremonies of the games to the world countries and the republic.
Speaking at the event, BEGOC Chief Operating Officer Simon Clegg highlighted the role of MCHT associations and enterprises in providing telecommunications services, Internet and broadcasting, information security and frequencies, and expressed his gratitude to the Minister for that.
It was noted at the event that specialists of relevant associations and enterprises effectively worked together with other members of BEGOC at Technical Operations Center during the games. The speaker expressed his special thanks to the staff of BEGOC for high level organization of telecommunications services, broadcasting and information security.
Considering the success in holding of the first European Games, a number of public and private communication companies that have played a role in providing telecommunication services, broadcasting, radio frequencies and information security, and relevant heads and specialists of BEGOC and MCHT were awarded honorary diplomas of the ministry.
In his closing remarks, the Minister once again thanked the leadership of BEGOC and expressed confidence that MCHT’s great potential will be effectively used to hold similar events in the future at high level.
