As Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) reports, currently, under the support of the ICYF-DC and within the framework of “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign are carried out a series of events in Indonesia, SIA informs.
In Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia with the support of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum and within the framework of “Justice for Khojaly” campaign was held a commemorative event on the 23nd anniversary of Khojaly genocide on February, 22. The event took place in “Istiqlal” mosque, the largest mosque of the country as well as Southeast Asia and the third largest mosque in the world.
Tens of thousands of people, as well as a number of senior officials from the ministries and government agencies and famous religious figures of the country were participated in the common prayer in “Istiqlal” mosque. Ms. İmas Choirun Nisa Fujiati the national coordinator of the Justice for Khojaly in Indonesia and our compatriot Mr. Elmar Iskandarov gave detailed information about the severe humanitarian results of the aggressive policy of Armenia, the historical roots of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the main goals and objectives of “Justice for Khojaly” campaign.
The activists of the campaign also called people who participated in the common prayer to join to the “Great Rally” for the Justice for Khojaly held in the centre of Jakarta next day. Following the common prayer, a number of religious figures and senior officials condemned occupation of Nagorno Karabakh by Armenia and said they fully support Azerbaijan on the issue of Khojaly genocide.
On February 23, with the support of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum (ICYF-DC) and within the framework of “Justice for Khojaly” campaign held a rally under the slogan “Justice for Khojaly - The Forgotten Human Tragedy” in front of “Indonesia” hotel. Mr.Taufik Lubis, the Board Member of the ICYF-DC from Indonesia made a statement. According to Mr.Taufiq “Mr. President Joko Vidodo on behalf of the Indonesian government has to recognize Khojaly massacre as a genocide and support implementation of the UN and OIC resolutions on the conflict.” Mr.Taufik also said that the petition addressing to the international community and calling to recognize Khojaly tragedy as a “genocide” and a “crime committed against humanity” will be sent to the President of Indonesia and House of Representatives.
The Activists of the Muslim Youth Association and Youth Organization of Islamic Cooperation participated in protest events held in Indonesia. Nighttime, using the slogan “Light a Fire to Fight the Liar” has been launched by “Justice for Khojaly” campaign the protestors laid 63 candles in memory of the 63 children murdered in Khojaly massacre in a square in front of the Parliament. During these days the events were widely published in Indonesian press.
“Justice for Khojaly” International Awareness Campaign was initiated by Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Haydar Aliyev Foundation and the General Coordinator for Intercultural Dialogue of the ICYF-DC in 2009 and currently is being successfully implemented in over 50 countries worldwide. As a result of the Campaign aiming at achieving political, legal and moral appraisal for the Khojaly tragedy on international level the Khojaly massacre recognized as a genocide and crime committed against humanity by the parliaments of the different countries as well as by the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of OIC member countries and the Parliamentary Unions of the Organization of Islamic Conference.
