The aircraft came down in a Colorado field last May, and now a report on the crash has been released which says the plane did not malfunction, however a GoPro camera was found amongst the wreckage, SIA reports ciring the Metro.
Investigators at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said footage taken from the camera showed pilot Amritpal Singh and his passengers taking selfies while flying at dangerously low altitudes.
They also commented that the 29-year-old’s plane was not equiped for the night time take-off’s he was performing.
It is thought that flashes from the camera could have distracted Mr Singh as he was flying the plane.
The NTSB said in their report: "A post-accident examination of the airplane did not reveal any pre-impact anomalies that would have precluded normal operation. Based on the wreckage distribution, which was consistent with a high-speed impact, and the degraded visual reference conditions, it is likely that the pilot experienced spatial disorientation and lost control of the airplane".
