Azerbaijan`s Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the State Committee for Refugee and IDP Affairs Ali Hasanov has said his country was committed to continuing its cooperation with international humanitarian organizations, SIA reports with reference to AzerTac.
“President Ilham Aliyev, who is continuing the policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev, has ensured Azerbaijan`s socio-economic development. Azerbaijan now has large financial resources. The UN reports describe Azerbaijan as the most rapidly developing country. But this does not mean that we will not cooperate with international organizations. On the contrary, continuing this cooperation will be beneficial for both sides,” he told Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Seyed Ahmad Moussavi in Tehran.
Mr. Hasanov praised Azerbaijani-Iranian ties. “It is important that we expand our relations not only in the field of economy, but also in humanitarian area,” he said. The Deputy Premier invited Mr. Moussavi to Azerbaijan.
Secretary General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society highlighted the activities of the organization. He said that founded in 1922 as the Iranian Red Lion and Sun Society of Iran, it became part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in 1923. He said the society provides a broad range of health services across Iran, while also focusing on emergency relief in situations of man-made or natural disasters domestically and abroad.
Mr. Moussavi hailed Iranian-Azerbaijani relations, saying the two countries were bound together by ties of history.
He stressed the necessity of expanding cooperation between the two countries` red crescent societies. “I`m confident that your visit will contribute to this,” Mr. Moussavi added.
