A meeting of the Executive Committee of the General Confederation of Trade Unions has kicked off in Baku.
Speaking to the event, President of the General Confederation of Trade Unions and vice-president of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions Mikhail Shmakov said the General Confederation groups 10 national trade unions associations and 30 international trade unions organizations.
Mr. Shmakov hailed conditions created for the development of trade unions in Azerbaijan. He stressed the importance of the meeting in terms of carrying out the exchange of experience and discussing ways of improving trade unions.
Chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, MP Sattar Mehbaliyev highlighted the history of trade unions in the country. He stressed the role of the General Confederation of Trade Unions in strengthening relations between trade union organizations.
He spoke of the activities of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, saying it maintains good relations with other trade unions organizations of the General Confederation.
Azerbaijan has been a member of the General Confederation of Trade Unions since 2001.
