Sick of having to queue up at the bar – behind someone ordering five mojitos and wanting to pay with three separate credit cards?
Next time you’re in Swansea you might want to pop into the Britain’s first ‘iPub’. Mark Lingwood, landlord of The Westbourne pub in Swansea, has spent £20,000 on a scheme that has iPads on tables.
He said: ‘It’s something I have looked at for a long time, it’s a great, fun idea.’ Once orders are placed, punters can pour themselves pints using the pumps that are fixed to three of the bar-room tables.
Snacks can also be requested using iPads and are brought to tables within two minutes by staff.
It might be bad news for the bar staff, who will see the iPad idea as a way of putting them out of a job.
But it doesn’t seem to bother the customers.
