The first volume of “Shah Ismail Safavi: portrait of a ruler and a warrior” book by head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev has come out, SIA reports.
The book provides an insight into the military-political, ideological and diplomatic heritage of prominent statesman and commander, founder of the first centralized state in the history of Azerbaijan, the State of Safavids, Shah Ismail Safavi (1487-1524).
In his book`s preface, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev writes: “Today, when Azerbaijan restored its independence, our historians face a critical task of restoring the country`s objective history and re-estimating the importance of outstanding Azerbaijani personalities.”
“Azerbaijani can rightly boast about its eminent personalities, who made huge contribution to political history of mankind and world cultural heritage,” the academician says.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part analyses the ethnic origin and history of the house of Sefevids, the glorious way of Shah Ismail and his ancestry, their struggle to unite Azerbaijani lands as well as the political system and religious policy of the dynasty. The second part looks into Shah Ismail Safavi`s diplomatic activity.
