Julia Roberts has stepped into the controversy over the pressures on women in Hollywood by claiming she may have risked her career by opting not to undergo a facelift.
The Oscar-winning actor, 46, made the comments in an interview with You Magazine to promote her role as a beauty ambassador with Lancome.
“By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift,” she said. “But I’ve told Lancome that I want to be an ageing model – so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50.”
Roberts, whose comments came in the wake of a media furore over 45-year-old Renée Zellweger’s new look, said she had found peace in middle age by “studying yoga on a more conscious level” and removing the clutter from her life.
