The XIII International Conference of Ombudsmen devoted to the 20th anniversary of the national Constitution, and the 70th anniversaries of the UN and one of its agencies UNESCO, today kicked off in the capital of Azerbaijan.
Supported by UNESCO, the Conference brings together the Ombudsmen and their representatives of over 10 countries, as well as international human rights experts, authoritative world organizations, renowned lawyers from Europe, Asia and Africa.
In her opening remarks, Azerbaijani Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova provided broad information about the historical background of the Office, its institutional structure, noting, the Conference became traditional.
The Conference was addressed by Ali Hasanov, Azerbaijani President’s Aide for Public and Political Affairs, Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, Gunay Efendiyeva, President of Turkic Culture & Heritage Foundation.
The Conferees are expected to adopt the Baku Declaration.
