Australia parliament delegation visiting our country to observe the elections to the Milli Majlis had a meeting on October 28 with Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Welcoming the delegation, M. Panahov expressed his satisfaction with the meeting with parliamentarians on the eve of parliamentary elections. The Chairman of the Commission spoke about CEC’s relations with reputable international organizations and noted that international practice played an important role in further improvement of the election.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception, head of the delegation Luke Simpkins and members of the Australian Parliament got aquatinted with the electoral system and electoral law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as with the work done in connection with the upcoming elections. Answering the questions of the guests, Chairman of the CEC Mazahir Panahov gave detailed information on large-scale projects carried out to hold free, fair and transparent elections.
Then, the MPs got aquatinted with the activity of the CEC regarding the parliamentary elections, and familiarized themselves with the last preparatory works on different projects.
They also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
