The stance of the West, especially the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), toward Azerbaijan is biased, said a Russian MP.
Leonid Slutsky – who is an MP of the State Duma’s Liberal Democratic Party and the chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, and will lead the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s observation mission to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan – made the remarks on Tuesday at a press conference held at the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia.
Azerbaijani is a developing country and there are attempts to curb the state’s development rather than to give impetus to it, Slutsky said.
“The image of Azerbaijan is being distorted in Europe. That is because the ODIHR is in search of negativity only. With such a position, the organization in fact works upside down, fulfilling an order,” he noted.
