On Oct 26, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov met with Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Andreas Peschke as part of the next phase of the political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
was told by the Foregn Ministry that during the meeting Khalaf Khalafov, noted the importance of developing relations with Germany: "The next stage of political consultations will serve the further development of bilateral relations and the strengthening of political dialogue." added Mr Khalafov.
"The steps recently taken against Azerbaijan, in particular, the resolutions of the European Parliament and Bundestag do not serve to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany. Germany needs to adjust its position on several issues in order to increase the effectiveness of the political dialogue between the two countries." stressed Azerbaijani Deputy FM.
In his turn, Peschke, emphasizing that Azerbaijan is the most important partner of Germany in the region, said that his country’s position on supporting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity remains unchanged. Referring to the development of the political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, Peschke touched upon the recent mutual visits and mentioned that the increase of contacts between the countries is important for the development of the bilateral relations. The German diplomat expressed his country’s intention to closely cooperate with Azerbaijan in all fields, especially in the economic sphere, and said that Germany is interested in sustaining political dialogue between the two countries.
Andreas Peschke also highlighted that, German entrepreneurs are interested in investing in Azerbaijan.
