Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov met with Manuel Gonzalez Sanz, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica.
Speaking about possibility areas of cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and high technologies, Minister Ali Abbasov highlighted the mutual interest and potential to ensure the future development of relations. Speaking about reforms and projects implemented in the field of ICT, communications and high technologies in Azerbaijan, the Minister noted the reforms, regional and global projects initiated by the country, as well as support by the resolutions of the UN General Assembly to the Trans-Eurasia Information Superhighway (TASIM) which is coordinated by Azerbaijan, in this context, the establishment of the Eurasian Connectivity Alliance (EuraCA).
Speaking about research of peaceful uses of nuclear technologies in Azerbaijan, work carried out in the field of nuclear energy, the Minister said for this purpose National Nuclear Research Centre was established in the country, at the same time space projects are currently carried out towards strengthening space industry potential in the country, which possesses satellites Azerspace, and Azersky.
Then, speaking about the level of development of the internet, Minister Ali Abbasov noted the support of our country for free internet policy, as well as in terms of internet and broadband internet users Azerbaijan is twice ahead of the world average. Saying ample opportunities created by the internet serves the rapprochement of the two countries, the Minister stressed the expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Costa Rica over the electronic market will create great opportunities.
Praising Azerbaijan’s socio-economic development, through which the country has become a big country in a short period of time, Minister Manuel Gonzalez Sanz expressed his country’s interest in further development of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The guest underlined the importance of strengthening efforts to expand relations and put forward proposals on the implementation of joint projects between Azerbaijan and Costa Rica by involving a third country.
Touching upon the role of mutual visits and meetings in the future development of relations, Manuel Gonzalez Sanz invited Minister Ali Abbasov to participate in the Online Freedom Coalition to take place in the Republic of Costa Rica next year.
The sides also discussed the areas of future cooperation and increasing opportunities in this area, as well as exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
