The New Azerbaijan Party has issued a statement over the European Parliament’s anti-Azerbaijani position, SIA
According to the statement, the New Azerbaijan Party deeply regrets the unbiased resolution adopted against Azerbaijan by a group of members of the European Parliament and notes that the regional parliamentary assembly, abusing procedural rules, targeting an independent state on a regular basis is not the kind of policy that supports mutual cooperation and frank relations.
"A group of European parliamentarians offer continuous support to the smear campaign against Azerbaijan, without giving unbiased assessment to the ongoing processes in this country. Azerbaijan’s activities in democratic legal state building, insurance of human rights and freedoms, and conversion of oil capital into human capital are overlooked. And there attempts to undermine this country’s trust in Azerbaijani values. The fact that parts of Azerbaijani territory is under Armenian occupation and the problem of about a million refugees are neglected for some reason,” says the statement.
The statement considers the overlooking of the establishment of pluralism and democracy, and the conditions created for free development of media as the result of the European Parliament’s tendentious and biased positions against Azerbaijan. It also notes that attempts to give preconceived assessment to Azerbaijan’s domestic policy has become a policy of theEuropean Parliament and this raises reasonable uproar among the Azerbaijani population.
"Challenge for release of some prisoners, whom they respect, is interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs and a step discrediting the concept of law. Defending the persons accused of cooperation with the special services of foreign countries, engagement in illegal business reveals personal interests of some EP members."
"The New Azerbaijan Party believes that EP’s next anti-Azerbaijan declaration does not reflect the view of the European community. We assess this declaration as a hysterical act arising from political irritation of circles irritated by Azerbaijan’s successes in state building. Despite the efforts of anti-Azerbaijan circles in Europe, Azerbaijan will decisively continue its policy of democracy, protection of human rights, independent foreign and domestic policy”.
