The statements of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Raad Al-Hussein on the situation of human rights in Azerbaijan are ordered and biased,” spokesman of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmat Hajiyev stated, SIA reports.
According to Hikmat Hajiyev, some circles impose the issue of human rights on a selective and use for political purposes.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights doesn't express any position in regard with its mandate concerning the protection of human rights more than one million refugees and IDPs as a result of occupation and ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, but makes political interference in private criminal acts established by a court decision, which is a manifestation of bias.
"At the same time, although hundreds of thousands of people fleeing their homes because conflicts and the related problem of mass migration call for collective responsibility as the biggest humanitarian problem faced by Europe after World War II, some human rights organizations seem to be silent and inactive. Under the Constitution, laws and international commitments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, supremacy of law and fundamental rights and freedoms, including freedom of media, are fully ensured. Protection of the rights and interests of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic is a supreme goal of the state."
Note that, Zeid Ra'ad Zeid Al-Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has made a statement that civil society and freedom of expression are prosecuted in Azerbaijan.
