As part of the trilateral meeting of Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers held in Antalya, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, SIA
During the meeting the ministers exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. They strongly condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey, extended their condolences to the families of terror victims.
The sides noted that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will contribute to the development of regional cooperation and trade links and increase trade turnover, will soon be inaugurated.
The ministers went on to add that after the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline projects, TAP and TANAP gas pipelines will play an important role in Europe’s energy security and change the region’s energy map.
It was said that the ongoing exercises in Azerbaijan with the involvement of the Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces will increase the cooperative capabilities between the fraternal countries and strengthen regional peace and security.
The ministers noted that the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict still remaining unsettled because of the unconstructive position of Armenia is a major hindrance to peace and security in the South Caucasus.
The sides stressed the importance of these meetings that take place on a regular basis in trilateral format – with the participation of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan, noting meetings in this format contribute to the development of cooperation in the political, economic, trade, humanitarian, energy, transportation and other areas.
