“President of European Council Donald Tusk’s visit to Azerbaijan has demonstrated being of high level and close relations between Azerbaijan and European Council,” Editor-in-chief of the "Yeni Azerbaijan" newspaper, political analyst Hikmat Babaoghlu told SIA, commenting on Donald Tusk’s visit to Azerbaijan.
According to Hikmat Babaoghlu, the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, as independent state consist of growth of cooperation with European Council, as well, development of democracy and human rights in Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan is one of the countries being close to the European Council, cooperationg on political, energy security issues, protecting human rights, providing democracy and freedom of speech, as well in other fields." added Azerbaijani political analyst.
"European Council President’s visit to Azerbaijan was a response to the unbiased claims against Azerbaijan over "violating human rights" by some international human rights organizations, conducted, under an influence of some marginal groups and Armenian lobbies. The visit has proved once more that there has been established a system in Azerbaijan that based on democracy, protects human rights, provides freedom of speech and press." stressed Mr Babaoghlu.
