"Azerbaijan faced with the war 20 years ago, but we were able to overcome all these challenges, and we have made great progress. Therefore, Azerbaijan sees Afghanistan’s current needs and may be a model for this country", Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated in his speech to NATO’s meeting on Afghanistan affairs at the level of Foreign Affairs Ministers, SIA reports.
Elmar Mammadyarov noted that the Afghan government has a huge reform agenda. It's not just the security. Of course, security is the first column of sustainability. Huge investments should be involved in industrial and infrastructure sphere, he said. The Minister stressed the importance of railways for Afghanistan. There is a railway in the country he said and hailed the Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkish railway project linking Afghanistan with Europe as one of the essential elements for the sustainable development of the country.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister stressed the significance of launching support mission for the future of Afghanistan. Azerbaijan will contribute to this mission by troops, training, financial assistance and in transit forms, he said.
“The international community should continue to support Afghanistan in the years ahead to achieve much success”, he emphasized.
