36 year-old mother, Erin Sutherland, who suffered from postnatal depression has been jailed for three years after admitting to killing her 10-month-old daughter.
She smothered her daughter Chloe to death at a home in Edinburgh's Parkhead View in February.
Police initially charged her with murder, although Sutherland later pleaded guilty to culpable homicide on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Defence counsel Gordon Jackson QC described the case as "extremely tragic", adding that Sutherland also intended to take her own life.
Sutherland has been sentenced to three years' imprisonment with a hospital direction, meaning her treatment for mental health problems will continue.
