The terrifying moment a toddler's buggy rolled across a rail platform and tipped off the end, landing on train tracks, has been caught on camera.
In the video, taken at Diamond Creek, the man can be seen looking at a ticket machine. And while his back is turned, the buggy begins to roll away.
Still strapped in, the girl falls face first about a metre, straight onto the tracks.
One witness told Melbourne radio station 3AW: "The child's head hit the steel rail and gave it a significant head injury around the eye-socket."
He added that the child's nose was bleeding.
When the man in the video turned around and saw what had happened he ran to the edge of the platform and jumped down.
Other commuters ran down the track to help and the little girl was taken to hospital where she is said to be in a stable condition.
Incredibly, no trains were passing at the time.
