The Evening of Azerbaijani Culture held on November 4 in the German city of Dusseldorf with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in this country has been widely covered in the local mass media. One of such articles has been placed on a jazz internet portal (nrwjazz.net) of Northern Rhine-Westphalia, considered to be the forth region of Germany by the territory, and first by the population. In an article entitled “Discovery between the West and East – Elchin Shirinov in Dusseldorf” by Stefan Pieper, services of Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva towards promotion of the Azerbaijani culture and music throughout the world is specially emphasized. Information about the historical ties between Azerbaijan and Germany, the German heritage existing in our country, jazz music in Azerbaijan, a number of jazz professionals’ being from Azerbaijan, and uniqueness of the jazz-mugham synthesis are stated in the article.
The author informs that the concert programme by Azerbaijani jazz professional Elchin Shirinov and masters of jazz from the Great Britain Dave Hamblett and Sam Laserson was welcomed by the audience with applauses: “Shirzad Fataliyev’s performance in balaban and Mirjavad Gafarov’s in oud synthesized with Azerbaijani national music pieces made the concert more interesting.”
In the article, it is stated that the exhibition “German Traces in Azerbaijan” arranged in the foyer of Dusseldorf’s Theatre House also drew attention of the guests coming to watch the concert.
